As we know the konsole at *nix variant is more important as X terminal emulator. It emulates a command line interface in a text only window. In this writes we talk about how to customizable konsole like change background color, or font size or font color or to enable konsole sound notification. Here’s two tips to customization your konsole on KDE 4.2

1.Customize konsole background, font, and cursor

The konsole icon you will find at application launcher/Lancelot > system > terminal.

When the konsole was opened please click onto settings > Edit Current Profile > Appearance bar and then click edit button.

If you want to create your own background color click new button and change it you own color!. When you want to change font size direct to text size below and scroll it to left or right. If you want to change font to other font just click on edit font button. On the Advanced bar you can customize a cursor color, make a blink cursor or text.

2.Customize konsole notification

Konsole also have a notification to notify you when a execute a command. As default on KDE 4.2 that sound notification are disable. To enable that sound you click on settings konsole menu > configure notifications.

Select Bell in Visible and click on play a sound with a file sound, for example write words KDE-Sys-App-Message.ogg. This sound notification useful when you execute a command client like ping command, when you ping one host or IP you’ve got reply from that host with sound on konsole to notify that host or IP exist. For example:

ipen@gempat:~> ping 127.0.0.1 -a

PING 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data.

64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.040 ms

64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.036 ms

That’s it!

Happy Valentine…
