Evolution mail client can alert you to the arrival of new mail with a beep or by playing a sound file. Choose your alert noise, or select none, as you prefer. You can disable/enable notify on new mail arrival in the mail notification plugin configuration. How to make sound alert to notify you an email arrived on evolution mail client? Here’s a two step to do that.

  • Click on Evolution edit menu > plugins

  • Select plugin mail notification, on the right top bar click configuration. If you want to play a sound file like you’ve got email, you can insert that file on the specify filename and select from folder sound file. If you want notify just new email for inbox only you can click on notify new message for inbox only. That changes will be effect after your restart evolution mail client.
